HACSU state secretary Tim Jacobson said he was advised eight ambulances were ramped about 9.30pm.
He said there were five ambulance crews ramped about 6pm on Monday.
Mr Jacobson attributed the congestion to bed shortages.
The Royal Hobart Hospital also experienced ramping on Monday, Mr Jacobson said.
Premier Will Hodgman said the state government was “rebuilding” the health system, which the government recognised felt “considerable strain”.
“We are working very, very hard to ensure that patient safety is paramount and we are best supporting the health professionals in our system,” Mr Hodgman said.
Mr Jacobson said: “Usually we see peaks in ramping resulting from seasonal issues such as the flu or gastro outbreaks.”
“None of this is a factor in these cases,” he said.
