City of Launceston's Manager of Technical Services Shane Eberhardt said the pool, the cafe and a number of paths had been damaged after floods swept through in June and November.
“It was about half a million dollars worth of damage and it was a signifcant workload on top of the other commitments that we already had to deliver,” he said.
“It was critical to have it open by summer and it was disappointing that we hadn’t been in a position to open it sooner.”
Environmental Department Project Officer Trevor Galbraith it was nice to see people back enjoying the park.
“It’s taken awhile, the pool was only a small part because we had to rebuild the plant room and filtration gear and all the toilets had to be rebuilt,” he said.
The floods dumped boulders as large as three tonnes in the pool and across the lawns and destroyed the pool’s infrastructure.
