Having completed construction works earlier this month, workers will now undertake an eight week grass-growing period with the aim of finishing the project by early February.
Meander Valley mayor Craig Perkins said the impact of this year’s wet winter was clear evidence of the need for an upgrade at the ground.
“Council has had the upgrading of the playing surface at Prospect Vale Park on the agenda for some time now so it's good to finally commence the work, particularly on the main football oval,” Cr Perkins said.
“The patience and the support from the sporting clubs that use Prospect Vale Park has been appreciated and I’m sure they'll notice the difference when the work's all completed.”
The ground is one of the most utilised recreational grounds in northern Tasmania.
