Director and founder of Just Cats Tasmania Rachel Beech said the expo is the organisation’s biggest fundraiser of the year. More than 40 cats were on show.
“We have cats and kittens on display that are all looking for homes, but we also have breeders here to show the difference between domestic and certain breeds of cats,” she said.
Mrs Beech said the adoption rate from the expo was “really good”. The cats are matched to the best environment before being placed with their new owners.
“We normally get about 300 people through the doors,” she said.
All the profits raised are donated back to the charity. Previous expos have raised more than $3000.
“At the moment we’re extending the shelter, we have a new building going up, but we need to fit it out with some more cat runs, so hopefully the money will go towards the new cat runs.”
