The Trevallyn Gourmet Bakery workers had just begun preparations when the two masked men entered through the store’s access door about 2am with a shotgun and demanded money.
Mr Duncan said the offenders tied him up, along with Mr Humphries, and put tape over their mouths.
After stealing a sum of money from the bakery, the men took Mr Duncan’s firearms license from his wallet and left the scene in his car.
The 22-year-old said when the men put a gun to his head, it “didn’t feel real”.
“They came in clown masks … you just don’t expect something like that to happen,” he said.
After police arrived at the scene, bakery owner Tony Mitchell said he was given the shocking news.
“I felt sick when they rang me … in my 19 years of business this has never happened,” he said.
“Nobody likes to lose money but at the end of the day as long as the boys are okay that’s the biggest thing.”
Mr Duncan’s dad, David Duncan, was also contacted after the incident, with police arriving on his doorstep at 3am.
“I immediately said ‘are my boys okay, what’s happened’,” he said.
“As a parent you just love your kids so much … if anything ever happened to them … I’m just so proud of him, how he handled the situation and I just feel really sorry that he’s lost his pride and joy, his car.”
Police are continuing to investigate with searches underway for Mr Duncan’s stolen beige 2007 Land Cruiser Utility, registration E20GN.
