Figures from the last week show Tasmania Police nabbed 21 drivers in breach of traffic laws – an improvement on last week’s total of 24.
So far this financial year, 313 seatbelt infringement notices have been issued in the state’s North.
This time last year, 292 had been issued.
Tasmania Police will use variable message boards across Launceston in the coming months to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelts.
Last financial year, four people died from not wearing their seatbelts, or not wearing them correctly.
The force has launched its Seatbelts Save Lives campaign in the hope of educating the public about the importance of seatbelt use.
The campaign will run until June 30, 2017.
Tasmanians can expect to see increased information about safe seatbelt use on social media and traditional media between now and then.
