As the pair read the results in the paper they realised they had a perfect match on line two of their 36-game QuickPick ticket.
“It’s just wonderful. We’ve been shaking ever since yesterday morning – it’s just been unbelievable,” the wife of the winning couple said.
The division one winning ticket saw the couple receive $1.9 million of a $21 million Superdraw.
“My husband read the paper to check the numbers, and there it was on line two,” the woman said.
“I heard him getting a bit short of breath, and he stammered, ‘we’ve won TattsLotto’.”
The couple will celebrate their new found millionaire status with 10 other division one winners.
“It’s so surreal, you say the number, $1.9 million, over and over in your head and it doesn’t actually register how much it is,” the woman said.
The Launceston couple plan to do some traveling with the money.
The division one winning ticket was purchased from Mr Lotto at Invermay.
Mr Lotto store manager Leah Gower said she was thrilled they’d sold a winning entry.
“It’s nice to know that we’ve sold a winning ticket – hopefully it was to one of our regulars that pops in all the time,” she said.
“Congratulations to them and we wish them all the best with their win.”
The $21 Million Superdraw delivered 11 division one wins across the nation, with each first division prize worth $1,909,090.91.
