Queechy beat St Patrick’s College in the boys’ grand final.
In the senior girls division 1 final, Prospect High School defeated St Patrick’s College.
Scotch Oakburn College took out the senior boys’ division 2 title proving too good for Scottsdale High in their grand final.
In the junior boys ’ division 1, Riverside High beat Scotch Oakburn to win their division.
Brooks High School defeated St Patrick’s College in the junior boys’ division 2 grand final.
Launceston Church Grammar School won the junior girls’ division 1 final overcoming St Patrick’s College and in junior girls’ division 2, Riverside High defeated St Patrick’s College.
“A bit of a trend there with St Patrick’s making five grand finals and finishing runners-up in all five,” Basketball Tasmania chief executive Chris McCoy said.
“They did a great job to be in them but couldn’t come away in them.
“We had full stands in Launceston for the tournament which was great to see at Elphin,”
A total of 156 teams took part in the BT regional high school championships in each region of the state over the weekend with 333 games played.
The top three teams from each division 1 age group in each region will progress to the state championships tournament to be held in Launceston on the weekend of November 26-27, with the winning teams becoming state champions.
Meanwhile, in senior state league basketball results from the weekend round, the City of Launceston women’s team had a double header road trip south to play top of the table Southern Wolves and Phoenix.
They played Phoenix on Saturday night and after only one point separated the two teams at three-quarter time, City women went down 79-71 at full-time.
On Sunday top team Southern Wolves proved much stronger winning easily over City of Launceston 80-49.
Those results leave them with a 3-7 win-loss record and unlikely to make the top four unless other results fall their way.
City of Launceston men’s team played Lauderdale Grenadiers in Launceston on Sunday going down in a close contest 70-68.
It left them with a 2-4 record and one game to come which they must win to make semi-finals.
Grenadiers also won by two points on the North-West coast Saturday night for double road wins.
