Tasmanian Governor Kate Warner partook in a Walk Together march in Hobart over the weekend.
She drew criticism from federal One Nation senator Pauline Hanson after making comments of a political nature, media outlets reported.
The Governor reportedly questioned Senator Hanson’s position on banning Muslim immigration, and that Australia was being “swamped by Muslims”.
"I think it's so important for Australians who oppose her views to stand up and be counted," she said.
In a statement, Senator Hanson reportedly criticised the Governor arguing she was breaking tradition and entering into political debate.
A state government spokesperson said it wouldn't be appropriate to publicly disclose the details of a conversation regarding the Governor’s comments, and that she retained the Premier’s full support.
