The scheme provides a refund for people depositing drink containers for recycling, with 10c schemes in place in Western Australia, Queensland, and going ahead in NSW.
State Growth Minister Matthew Groom said it had been previously announced that the government was currently considering the potential for a NSW style scheme in Tasmania.
Ms Woodruff said the Greens had written to the Premier and Opposition Leader inviting them to comment on a draft notice of motion.
The move was outlined in conjunction with Scouts Tasmania, who said the scheme would dramatically reduce plastic rubbish, damage to waterways and improve the marine environment.
“It would help support underfunded community organisations, like the Scouts, who would be able to cash in,” Ms Woodruff said.
