A WOMAN who stole $40,700 from her friend and carer has walked free.

Laura Spesi Speidel took the bag of cash that was hidden in her friend’s wardrobe on August 3.

After being caught out by the long-time friend, police were called.

In court on Thursday, Speidel showed great remorse.

She walked free without punishment after Justice Robert Pearce determined Speidel was not a risk of reoffending.
