Magpies coach Kristy Keppich-Birrell admits she has a greater understanding now of netball’s community involvement in the state.
Keppich-Birrell was a guest speaker at the Explore Netball Tasmania conference in Launceston on Sunday.
“I didn’t fully understand until the last 24 hours how strong those connections could actually be,” she said.
“That community core value fits in with what we’re trying to do with the sport.”
Collingwood, one of the three new clubs in next year’s rejuvenated national league, formed a partnership with Netball Tasmania this year.
Keppich-Birrell believed Netball Tasmania provides a perfect fit to share in the Collingwood vision.
“It has struck me that Netball Tasmania is a whole community event and it’s not just the players all the time, but what the sport can do for the communities,” she said.
