The easy way to avoid that is to simply make your new game better than its predecessor, and that’s exactly what developer Eidos Montreal has done with DEUS EX: MANKIND DIVIDED.
Set in the year 2029 – a couple of years after the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution - this new title welcomes the return of protagonist Adam Jensen, complete with a new set of body augmentations to help him in his mission to find those responsible for a series of terrorist attacks.
As an operative for the highly trained anti-terrorism arm of Interpol known as Task Force 29, Jensen must use all his skills to eliminate a vast array of suspects from a wide range of groups, all of whom looks as guilty and as innocent as each other.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is set in a first-person perspective and has elements of a stealth shooter and an action role-player. If you play through the entire single player storyline, it will set you back about 30 hours of game time, which is time well spent in this case.
As with the previous Deus Ex title, Mankind Divided is all about choices – with no one choice being right or another wrong. You can play through the game using stealth tactics as you main modus operandi, or you can go all guns blazing, so to speak. You won’t be rewarded more for being one or the other. It’s all about choosing your path and hopefully succeeding.
Aside from the regular methods of a cover-based shooter, you can also employ the use of your augmentations – special weapons and abilities that have been inbuilt into your body. For example, some augmentations allow you to hack almost any electrical device, allowing you to control them or shut them down. Alternatively you can slow time or cover great distances in the blink of an eye.
Overall, Mankind Divided is an excellent continuation of this brilliant franchise and one worth investing your time and effort into.
