Playgroup Tasmania’s @ Play with Nature saw 40 families come together at Hollybank Forest for a morning of learning through play.
The monthly program gives children the opportunity to socialise and learn through outdoor activities such as building fairy houses.
Children are then given the freedom of unstructured playtime to explore their ideas.
Playgroup Tasmania support and development officer Belinda Mathieson said the pop-up playgroup was all about getting children back to basics.
“Research tells us that children learn through play so while they’re here they’re able to learn those social and emotional skills,” she said.
“We’ve had positive feedback from the community saying this is the type of thing they want to take part in.”
