The Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment is calling for public assistance in relation to the shooting of the wedge-tailed eagle, which was found near Priory.
DPIPWE Wildlife Operations Section Head Luke Bond said all reports of unlawful harming of wildlife were regarded extremely seriously by the department.
“Given that Tasmanian wedge-tailed eagles are listed as endangered makes this incident particularly serious,” he said.
“The eagle is one of our iconic species and the criminal actions of the perpetrators robs the state of its unique natural heritage.”
Anyone with information can anonymously contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or DPIPWE on 1300 827 727, from Monday to Friday.
