Students of Launceston Church Grammar Junior School have donated their unwanted books to the sale, with all funds raised going towards the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
This is the third year the initiative has run. Teacher and librarian Anne Lee said they hope to raise $500 to beat last years fundraising effort.
Ms Lee said it is also a good way of promoting reading in the students, who have a chance to refresh their books for a bargain while supporting a good cause.
“Our children are pretty fortunate … so we asked them to bring in any books they've finished with,” she said. “It’s also a way of raising the profile of reading and keeping reading on the agenda for all these children.”
The book swap is on all week to coincide with National Book Week. Ms Lee said the students are very generous and are excited to be involved.
