It’s the second prospectus released in a suite of industrial precinct documents under development following the release of the Bell Bay Industrial Precinct Prospectus last year.
Located a kilometre north of Westbury, the precinct contains just under 50 lots and covers an area of about 127 hectares.
Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business, Trade and Red Tape Roger Jaensch said the state government, through the Office of the Coordinator-General, had worked closely with the Meander Valley Council and other stakeholders to develop the prospectus.
“As enquiries come through government from whatever direction and people are looking for places that are serviced and ready to take investment and host a new development, we want to be able to show them those places that are ready to go, where the thinking has been done and the welcome mat is out for new investment,” he said.
“It sends a message that across all levels of government and across all the different parts of government that they might encounter, through planning and infrastructure and utilities and power and water, that we are all joined up in our planning, that we want to attract development and we want to make it easy.”
Meander Valley mayor Craig Perkins said the area was an attractive choice for future industry, with the central location and proximity to major ports, airports and highways.
“It sits around all the different pieces of infrastructure that a business might look to, the water and sewage, the energy, potential NBN, road network, rail network, it’s all contained there,” he said.
“You’ve got this confluence of strategic infrastructure that businesses will all want at different levels, but is all going to be there at some point, which makes it cost effective to connect into.”
Cr Perkins said it was not only important to the North of the state but to the town of Westbury, with opportunities for future employment.
