Artists Jan Suter and Anne O’Connor have created individual exhibition inspired by beaches along the East and West coast of Tasmania.
Suter’s work, Coast, reflects her “deep love” for the state’s landscapes, specifically the North West coast.
“I can’t imagine living somewhere I wasn’t able to see, smell or hear the ocean everyday,” she said.
Suter prefers to draw on site, wrestling with the natural elements to produce her work.
O’Connor’s work uses photography in a combination of mediums to express the mystical and magical relationship she has with Denison Beach.
A powerful combination of colour, shade and texture highlight the exhibition, which was inspired by childhood memories of camping at Denison.
“To me, the Denison is a place that is pretty well left as it was, there is not a lot of man's influence...and not everyone knows it exist,” O’Connor said.
“It is just one of those places that I can get to that is just wild Tasmania,” she said.
O’Connor’s exhibition will travel to the Gone Rustic Studio, St Marys from Friday September 9.
The work is on display at Stillwater Gallery until September 18.
