Meg was inspired to help after her great aunt offered her house to recently arrived refugees. Meg decided she too needed to help refugees in her local town of Launceston.
Meg raised the money by making and selling honey joys. She didn’t think she would raise any money and was delighted and excited to be able to donate and show her support.
She said raising awareness and educating people about different cultures was just as important as raising the money.
Meg wants to become a politician to be able to continue to make a positive difference. “Since the election I’ve just been helping out in the community… and it’s just inspired me,” said Meg.
The money she raised has been donated to the Migrant Resource Centre to help settle refugees and aid their transition into Launceston.
