Bruce Williams and Daniel Hinze are the backbone of the Subbies attack and will be in the thick of it again this week, as they endeavour to keep their finals hopes alive.
South Burnie will be keen to avenge last week’s loss and needs the win to stay in finals contention.
The Hawks standout performers are Jarrod Bomford, Tom Trevarthan and the veteran Roger Ambrose, who give their all.
Queechy plays Burnie Baptist in another game that will have a major influence over the final four. The Q’s hold second with a two-game margin over the next three sides but a loss here with four to go could be fatal.
Stand-in Coach Sam Rossetto has exerted his influence with the Q’s showing solid improvement in game strategy.
Evan Lawrence works hard through the mid-field for the Q’s and with solid direction from on-the-ground-leader Tom Moir this will be a close fought thing.
Ladder leaders South Launceston meet Smithton in a game that should have them honing their skills for the finals against the number seven side. Kurt Budgeon, James Sexton and Shannon Weedon were amongst the goals last week, scoring with ease.
Smithton pulled another draw last week, much to the chagrin of Coach Nigel Kingston as they led at the break, while they can’t make the finals they will come to play hard.
Keegan Popowski, Kade Woodrage and Jason House in the attack are capable of scoring if let loose and would certainly like to be part of the team that topples the reigning premiers.
City Marians have the best chance of improving their finals hopes as they take on the cellar dwellers Tamar Churinga on home turf in their third matchup for the year.
With a win each for the season so far, Tamar would rate their chances of taking this game, with the improved attack headed by Rohan John and Justin Ockerby.
The Bloods junior recruits are working well, but the old heads of Craig McCarthy, Jason Birtwhistle and Liam Grundy are still their danger men, this could be a close encounter.
