We must keep our heads
WE are clearly being asked what we believe in. The separation of church and state, the rule of law and freedom of expression have never been more real and practical as they are now. We must keep our heads - yes even while manipulative extremists are using all the guile they can to motivate lone wolves and others to remove those self same heads. Real votes
FIGURES published July 16 reveal that votes cast below the line in the recent senate poll (i.e by the voters that respect democratic processes) favour Senator Lisa Singh over the combined totals of the anointed Labor candidates by a margin of approximately 3.9 to one.
To arrive at this figure, I have factored in to candidate Short 200 that he probably did not receive. The next total on the Labor side was 819 to Senator Polley.
In addition, far from diminishing cross-bench participation, the double dissolution has resulted in an increase which is probably detrimental to good government.

Greyhound racing
NEW South Wales Premier Mike Baird has lead the way for other states to consider banning greyhound racing and may I say it's not before time.
There's no doubt the decision to end the racing of greyhounds is justified, because as the organizers of the recent 'adopt a greyhound' day in Sydney the RSPCA state, ' the industry has failed to prove it has quashed animal cruelty'.
Let's face it, these dogs are actually by nature, quite gentle and loving, an ideal family pet, not the ruthless 'catch me if you can' hunters the racing industry seem to portray.
