Students across the state will go head to head to see who can bake and sell the most cupcakes ahead of the annual event.
This year, Cupcake Day will be held on August 15 with funds going towards RSPCA Tasmania’s three animal care centres as well as its state-wide inspectorate team, who investigate animal cruelty.
RSPCA Tasmania CEO Peter West said local schools had always supported the campaign and he invited principals statewide to take part in this year’s challenge.
“We aim to highlight the terrific contribution schools make to the Cupcake Day fundraising effort and also the valuable work they do in educating students about animal welfare,” he said.
“We are anticipating that over the school holidays, students, their friends, parents and relatives will be baking up a storm preparing cupcakes for sale.”
Mr West said the RSPCA was aiming to raise $40,000 through the campaign.
