In a two-day session presented by the Festival of Voices, the Melbourne-based vocal and performance coach will host a workshop entitled Stepping up the Story in the Song at UTAS Inveresk’s Annex Theatre, tutoring vocalists in the art of performing.
Zara said it was easy for musicians to neglect crafting their onstage personality and technique in the process of learning and performing music.
“The tools that I’m trying to give people are how to know what's going to make a difference to how you're telling the story of a song, (such as) understanding what the song is about and the choices you make about where you are on stage,” Zara said.
“I want people to walk away feeling more confident about themselves as performers and more confident about their choices.”
