The new environmental protection projects include rehabilitation activities in bushfire impacted world heritage wilderness areas in the Central Highlands and West Coast.
It will also include revegetation work in the Dorset, Tamar and Midlands areas and bird nesting surveying on the East Coast.
Liberal Lyons MHR Eric Hutchinson said the projects would provide local jobs and boost environmental conservation in Tasmania.
“More teams are needed to protect the work done already, and to provide more opportunities,” Mr Hutchinson said.
“Often the participants have told their friends and they may also want to continue working with the program, or find employment in the sector.”
The Liberals also committed $98,650 to go towards Landcare projects in Lyons.
“These three projects, two in the south and one in the north, will work with farmers to see positive outcomes for both their business and environmental outcomes on their property,” Mr Hutchinson said.
The Green Army projects will also include the construction of virtual fences to protect Tasmanian Devils in the state’s south.
