Three weeks into pre-season training, the Tigers are heading to Bridport’s Barnbougle Dunes golf course for their annual bonding camp.
Captain George Bailey, all-rounder James Faulkner and pace bowler Jackson Bird have all had commitments in the one-day team or English county cricket but remain in regular contact with their state team.
Marsh said their experience will be invaluable for a side that has welcomed 12 new players in two years.
“We might not see George until the middle of October but he has that experience to be able to gel straight away,” Marsh said of the 33-year-old batsman, who helped Australia win the tri-nation series in the West Indies on Sunday before heading to Lord’s to join Middlesex.
Marsh said it is a similar situation among the wicket-keepers where former Test player Tim Paine, 31, is competing with interstate youngsters Ben McDermott, 21, and Jake Doran, 19.
