Tasmania’s farming fraternity will look to the future to discuss how to take advantage of the state’s agriculture opportunities at the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association conference (TFGA) next week. The annual conference has the theme “farming is...” and will include discussions about the state government’s AgriVision 2050 plan and what that may look like for the state’s primary producers. TFGA CEO Peter Skillern said the conference will give TFGA members and guests the opportunity to discuss the AgriVision 2050 plan as well as provide benchmarks as to how it would be achievable. “It will be an opportunity to talk about what it [Agrivision 2050] might look like and whether it’s appropriate to have a target that is 35 years away. Should we be thinking about real targets and milestones to get us there,” Mr Skillern said. Special guest for the conference will be Victorian farmer Alana Johnson. The conference on July 7 will be followed by the gala dinner and the following day will include a field day.
