Free Wi-Fi, charging points for electronic devices and a world-first Boag’s restaurant and bar are among the new features.
“We hope to really improve the passenger experience as they pass through and give a real sense of place,” Mr Hodgen said.
Around 90 per cent of the produce in the food and beverage precinct, created in partnership with Emirates Leisure Retail Australia, is locally sourced, giving a strong northern Tasmanian flavour.
Improvements were made to the entrances, carparks, runways and terminals to gear up for the 2020 target of 1.5 million visitors.
“In terms of visitors to Tasmania, 30per cent of all those arriving by air come through [Launceston Airport],” Mr Hodgen said.
Premier Hodgman said improving the quality of experience for visitors and Tasmanians was important.
