Hobart live music institution the BRISBANE HOTEL is celebrating its ninth birthday this weekend. As is tradition, the venue is throwing itself a themed party. And this year, the theme is Love Boat. To help blow out the candles on the cake, there will be sets from A. Swayze and the Ghosts, Powernap, Slag Queens, DJ BTC and DJ Calamine Lotion. The gig starts at 9pm on Saturday, June 25, and entry is $10.
Melbourne band OCEAN BONES are jetting into the state this weekend. The four-piece will play at Launceston’s Club 54 on Saturday night, with Lonnie supports Cuban Heel and Jacob Hull. Doors open at 9pm, and entry is five bucks.
Cuban Heel will be taking the Club 54 stage again on July 1, when they support BRITISH INDIA. British India are on the road for their Winter tour, and will also play in Hobart at the Republic Bar on July 2. Tickets for the Launceston gig are on sale through Oztix, and through Moshtix for Hobart.
Tickets are still available to the Saturday arvo all-ages LUCA BRASI show in Launceston. After the over-age, night show sold-out toot sweet, the band announced a 2pm show for Saturday, July 2, at Club 54. Tickets are available through Oztix.
Grab your July calendar – there’s plenty to see. In Hobart, Australian music legends MENTAL AS ANYTHING are taking to the stage of the Republic Bar on Friday, July 8. Tickets are on sale now through Moshtix for $28, plus booking fees.
The South is set to burn bright from July 15 to 17 for the HUON VALLEY MID-WINTER FESTIVAL. There’s live music, storytelling, cider, wassailing (an old ceremony that would stir the cider apple trees while scaring away evil spirits to ensure a good apple harvest) and, of course, feasting. Grab your glitter, because TOTALLY UNICORN is back on the road. The infamous heavyweights have teamed up with Melbourne band PAGAN for Dream Life tour this September. It’s taking them all over the country, including to Hobart’s Brisbane Hotel on September 24. Tickets are on sale now.
