The opposition said the $750,000 election promise would see improvements to ground and facilities, including playing surfaces, drainage and irrigation upgrades.
Bass Labor candidate Ross Hart announced the commitment with Tasmanian Labor Senator Helen Polley on Friday.
Mr Hart said the new drainage and upgrade of the ground infrastructure would go a long way to improving access to the 3,000 local users that use the facility each year.
Meander Valley Mayor Craig Perkins said sports such as touch football place pressure on the existing grounds, particular during wet season.
“In terms of feet on the ground and the impact it has this (announcement) will make them (the grounds) more available more often for particularly junior sporting clubs,” Cr Perkins said.
