The 21-year-old has been chosen to represent Tasmania in the Miss Universe Australia National Final.
Ms King will head to Bali later this month to meet with other national finalists before competing in the final in Melbourne on August 31.
While she is excited, Ms King admitted she was shocked when she first read the news.
“Everything just all happened at once, I was a bit unsure what to do at first but it’s a once in a lifetime experience,” she said.
“I’ve never done anything like this before so it’s quite a big step for me.
“In the finals, there will be a swimsuit round, evening gown round and I will be asked questions on stage and we’ll be judged on intelligence, physical fitness, personal style and charisma.”
If Ms King wins the national final in August, she will go on to represent Australia in the Miss Universe competition.
