Several homes in Fingal were inundated with flood water.
Roads leading to tourist hotspots St Helens and Bicheno were cut in some areas due to the deluge.
The Scamander River broke its banks on Monday morning.
Break O’Day Mayor said it will be sometime until the full extent of the damage is realised.
“We really won’t know the fallout until the water recedes,” he said.
“It’s pretty bad, but obviously not as bad as some parts.”
The Break O’Day Council remained open until 8pm on Monday night and the council is contactable 24 hours a day during the flood period on 6376 7900.
The Australian Red Cross has pledged its support to Tasmania as it recovers from the weather.
“We advise people to take advantage of the support... including from Red Cross people in evacuation centres and in the field,” Red Cross Emergency Services’ Andrew Coghlan said.
