As a world ranking event on the international calendar, it allows registered elite entrants to achieve a world ranking.
Brodie Nankervis and Matt Patten of the Esk Valley Club are entrants in both events.
The junior world championship team was named following the national Easter events and included Tasmanians Zoe Dowling, Anna Dowling and Jarrah Day.
The double header at St Helens includes the Tasmanian middle distance championships on Saturday and event six of the state series on Sunday. The total of 43 entrants in the elite fields includes 27 from interstate with an all-ages competition also involving 100 entrants.
Some of the prominent names will boost the senior ranks and add a welcome challenge to local orienteers. Mens 70 will feature Alex Tarr among eight Tasmanians.
