And when the solicitor, who cannot be identified, bled “profusely” all over the dining room floor, ice addict Gregory George Fernando, 28, allegedly became so angry he continuously punched him in the face “because of the mess”.
Mr Fernando, of Frewin Avenue, Woodberry, allegedly made the solicitor clean up the blood with towels before tying him up with rope.
But the solicitor managed to escape and raise the alarm.
Mr Fernando appeared in Newcastle District Court on Thursday where he pleaded not guilty to wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and aggravated kidnapping in company with intent.
A female co-accused, 31, who lived at the home in Miller Street, also pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The pair will face a trial in September.
The female knew the solicitor after he represented her partner in 2010, according to court documents, and invited him to the home on May 30, 2015.
But a short time after the solicitor arrived, Mr Fernando appeared and allegedly began threatening him, court documents state.
Mr Fernando allegedly took out several knives and placed them on the bench before allegedly stabbing the solicitor in a frenzied attack.
The solicitor allegedly suffered three stab wounds to his arms and was made to sit on the dining room floor.
Mr Fernando allegedly showed the solicitor a syringe filled with ice and said: “Have this, have this or I’ll do it you putrid dog”.
The solicitor allegedly administered a small amount of the drug and later told police he believed he had no other choice.
The solicitor was allegedly stabbed again in another attack, before Mr Fernando allegedly put a knife against his skull and said: “You wait until I put these knives through your skull”.
The solicitor’s escape led to a siege at the house before Mr Fernando and the female were arrested.
