The hospital was actually quite close – the Launceston General Hospital, in fact – and the day fairly recent.
May 4 marked Star Wars Day and Launceston enthusiasts marked it with some specialised community service.
Stormtrooper TK6419, who usually goes by Lee Moore, led the Thylacine Squad through the LGH’s children’s ward.
The group lent kids light sabers, steered droid R2J9 away from disaster and gifted the hospital a collection of Star Wars-themed gifts.
“Anything to do with kids, we’ll jump at it,” Mr Moore said.
Nabowla nine-year-old Grace Orchard happily wielded a lightsaber for the cameras and described Wednesday’s visit as “awesome”.
"Me and my dad are Star Wars fans,” she said.
May 4 is celebrated as Star Wars Day because of its pun on Jedi phrase ‘May the Force be with you’.
