The Branxholm-based collective has raised more than $16,000 in its 11 years of participation through serving tasty snacks with a warm cuppa and raffling off quilts and other homemade crafts.
“Nearly every year we make a quilt between the group and raffle that, plus we’ve made cushions and we’ve made table runners – we’ve made quite a lot,” Branxholm woman Cristine Kelly said.
“For me this is personal. I’ve lost friends, I’ve lost two sister-in-laws and a brother-in-law (to cancer).”
Ms Kelly was among more than 25 past guests and hosts invited to the Launceston Cancer Support Centre on Wednesday for the Biggest Morning Tea launch.
Cancer Council Tasmania chief executive Penny Egan said Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea was the organisation’s largest fund-raiser.
St Johns Craft Group will hold its Biggest Morning Tea at the Branxholm Hall on May 19 from 10am. Entry $5.
