HORSES will turn their heads towards Agfest this year when the popular Equine Expo returns for this year’s field days.

The Equine Expo took a break last year at Agfest but this year returns with trade stalls, equine information and awe-inspiring displays.
Demonstrations will be held at the newly refurbished Olympus Feeds arena every day of Agfest next weekend and will feature exciting and eye-catching displays between horse and rider.
Agfest equine director Kara Crosswell said she was looking forward to all the displays but said there were two that stuck in her mind.
“I’m really looking forward to them all but I think the miniature horses will be quite cute doing their jumps,” she said.

The other performance will be by a Spanish horse troupe, who will be performing the El Camino Liberty performance from 12.30 each day of Agfest.
In addition to the displays Ms Crosswell said information stalls would be situated around the outside of the arena for patrons to visit. Highlights of the stalls include a horse rescue organisation as well as saddleries, feed experts and leatherworks.
“Riding for the Disabled and Equestrian Tasmania and Equestrian Australia will have activities for the kids so there will be something for everyone,” Ms Crosswell said.
The organisations will also be running pony rides for children in the expo area.
The Olympus Feeds arena has also been recently upgraded to improve surface conditions to help in wet weather situations.
“It shouldn’t really be affected by weather because we’ve had the upgrades done but if it is stormy then rider safety is paramount, it will be considered,” she said.
Ms Crosswell said she hoped to see many patrons visiting the Equine Expo at this year’s Agfest, to help support the industry in Tasmania.
For the first time this year there will also be food and drinks available in the Horse Expo area and there will be ample seating for those watching the demonstrations.
There will be a full program of displays and 20 info stalls at Olympus Feeds arena.
Agfest will be held at Quercus Park on May 5-7.
