The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse announced on Friday that it would allow more survivors to apply for a private session, but final applications must be submitted by September 30.
5111 people have met with a commissioner in recent years to talk about their experiences with child sex abuse.
A further 1544 survivors have been accepted for private sessions.
However, the Royal Commission itself is expected to finish in December 2017, meaning some people would be due to miss out on the therapeutic benefit of a private session if a final date for private session applications was not set.
