Friday is set to have the heaviest rainfall with 15-20mm predicted across the day but conditions will ease into the evening.
Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Anna Forrest said Launceston should receive around 5mm on Thursday and between 5-10mm on Saturday, bringing some much needed rainfall to Northern Tasmania over the next few days.
“Into the Western Tiers could get up to about 30mm,” Ms Forrest said.
The rain is most likely to hit in the middle of the day and early afternoon due to a cloud bank coming over from Victoria.
“April has been below average in rainfall,” Ms Forrest said.
To date, there has been 5.6mm of rainfall in April, Launceston’s driest April on record was in 2007 with a mere 4.3mm.
Temperatures have been above average for autumn with Launceston’s average 1.1 degrees higher than the long term average.
