An unbeaten century stand between Alex Doolan and Mark Cosgrove has put Tasmania in a strong position on day one of the Sheffield Shield match against South Australia in Adelaide.
Doolan (45 not out) and Cosgrove (86 not out) came together with the score on 66 following the dismissal of Test opener Ed Cowan for 35.
A short time ago, Tasmania was 1-170 from just 55 overs.

Tasmania has consolidated following the loss of opener Ed Cowan just before lunch in its Sheffield Shield match against South Australia.
The Tigers went to lunch at 1-72 after losing the wicket of Cowan (35) with the score on 66.
Fellow opener Mark Cosgrove has compiled a patient 37, while Alex Doolan has reached 16 to push the visitors' score along to 1/92 after 37 overs.
Earlier, Test opener Cowan was unlucky to be given out leg-before to South Australian skipper Johan Botha for 35 after playing forward to a turning delivery after the Tigers won the toss and elected to bat this morning.

Tasmania has lost the prized wicket of opener Ed Cowan just before the lunch break in its Sheffield Shield match against South Australia.
The Test opener was unlucky to be given out leg-before to South Australian skipper Johan Botha for 35 after playing forward to a turning delivery with the score on 66.
At lunch on day one, Tasmania was 1-72 from 31 overs with Mark Cosgrove not out on 34 and the new batsman, Alex Doolan on three.

Tasmania has made a slow but steady start to its Sheffield Shield match against South Australia today.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Tasmania was 0-33 after 15 overs with openers Mark Cosgrove not out on 12 and Ed Cowan unbeaten on 21.

Tasmania has won the toss and will bat in its Sheffield Shield match against South Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
In team news, South Australian opening batsman Michael Klinger has been ruled out with a shoulder injury.
For Tasmania, keeper Tim Paine is fit and will captain the team in George Bailey's absence.
The Redbacks will be captained by South African spinner Johan Botha.
Tasmania drew its first shield match against New South Wales, while South Australia was soundly beaten by Queensland by 191 runs in match one.
