Page’s first wedding Elvis impersonation was for a friend who’d always wanted a Las Vegas wedding, but couldn’t make it there.
Following a warm reception, Page established Launceston-based Elvis Weddings Tasmania with his wife Louise Wilson this year.
The pair is a dynamic matrimonial duo, with Ms Wilson being a certified celebrant.
Page said he gravitated towards Presley’s music after people told him they had similar singing voices.
“I’ve really gone down that path of really enjoying his music and also being a bit fascinated by the person that he was,” Page said.
“Everyone does the 70s era because of the jumpsuits, but my favourite part of Elvis was his ‘69 comeback special, and his earlier stuff from ‘56 to ‘58,” he said.
He said ‘Hound Dog’,‘Blue Suede Shoes’ and ‘Jailhouse Rock’ were always crowd favourites.
The duo said they believe they’re the only Elvis wedding service in the state, and hope to attract mainlanders who come to the Apple Isle to wed to their service.
The duo said the Elvis Weddings service had been particularly popular with people doing commitment ceremonies and vow renewals.
Elvis Weddings Tasmania have function bookings on the mainland later this year, where the appetite for Elvis is strong.
