Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association state secretary Paul Griffin said Chickenfeed's parent company Retail Adventures told him there were no plans to close further stores.
``But they told me that last time after the North Hobart store closed (two weeks ago),'' he said.
``We will be seeking some confirmation as to how they are positioning jobs for the remaining stores.''
On Thursday, five Chickenfeed stores - Sandy Bay, Mowbray, Kings Meadows, Huonville and Wynyard - were all closed with less than a day's notice.
There are still 19 Chickenfeed stores operating across the state, and almost 30 more across the country, employing around 8000 people.
The company was founded by Tasmanian businessman Rudie Sypkes, who died in 2008.
The first branch opened in Glenorchy in 1990.
Retail Adventures owner Jan Cameron and business development manager Sue Gilbert did not return The Examiner's calls yesterday.
