POLICE are searching for a man who tried to pull a 14-year-old schoolgirl into the back seat of his car at Glenorchy this morning.

Detective Inspector David Plumpton said the Dominic College student was approached by the man on her way to school at 8.15am today.
``The young girl was on Tolosa Street, Glenorchy, just past the Bowden Street round-about when a male person in a red Mazda sedan stopped and after opening the rear door of his vehicle took hold of the young girls backpack, pulling her toward the car,'' Detective Inspector Plumpton said.
``Another male person has intervened and prevented any further assault, this person has then assisted the young girl continue onto school.''
``The young girl was not physically injured but obviously shocked by the events.''
Detective Inspector Plumpton said police were investigating the incident, and wanted to speak to the man who had helped her escape.
He said they would also like to talk to any witnesses.
