A September 2 release date has been announced for the Hollywood film shot on location at the North-West tourist town in November, 2014.
A beautifully shot trailer for The Light Between Oceans was unveiled this week and shows Stanley looking stunning.
The town's residents are excited to get to see the finished movie at last.
Many locals were employed as extras in the film.
Stanley Hotel owners Tracey and Julian Jacobs said the film's debut would be celebrated at Stanley.
There was talk during the filming of a local premiere that still might eventuate, according to the hopes expressed by some.
Stanley couple Sam Humphries and Louise Payne operate a whisky enterprise called The Angel's Share, and can't wait to toast the film's release.
"When the film makers were doing the filming here a producer talked about the possibility of a premiere at Stanley," Mr Humphries said.
"We're very excited about the movie," Ms Payne said.
"They did promise that we might get our own film premiere and we hope so.
"We can't wait to see the movie," he said.
He described it as "a magic time" at Stanley when the film crew was in town and the buzz it created.
"It was great for the town and it will be great for the town when the movie's out," he said.
Mr Humphries said Stanley would get invaluable exposure from the film.
A spokesman for Screen Tasmania, which supported the filming at Stanley, said a local celebration would be held to mark the release but he did not know if there would be a premiere arranged in the town.
Screen Tasmania supported film production company Dreamworks with location scouting and assisted on the ground with production facilities and extras casting.
The Stanley Hotel and one of it s owner's both make cameo appearances in the movie.
"My husband was an extra," Mrs Jacobs said.
"The hotel was used for some of the outside street shots and it was quite transformed."
Mrs Jacobs said it was a surreal experience to see the town as it was taken back in time.
"The film's stars wandered around town and were lovely and approachable".
The Light Between Oceans stars Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander.
