AFTER watching from afar at Aurora Stadium the night before, Evandale Primary School pupils had the chance to get up close and personal with Hawthorn players on Friday for day one of the club's community camp.

A host of Hawks, including captain Luke Hodge, midfielder Brad Hill and forward Tim O'Brien, made a detour to the school before next week's round two clash with Richmond, much to the delight of the town's young football fans.
Players and pupils alike were in top form for a question and answer session, before moving to the oval for a kick-to-kick, where a hawk flying overhead caused nearly as much excitement as the Hawks on the ground.
Later, Hill got a taste of Evandale's sport of choice, getting astride a penny-farthing before Saturday's championships.
Hodge was impressed with the pupils' questioning as much as their footy skills.
"I thought we'd come out and have a bit of a chat and a bit of a kick with the kids - for once the kids were more interested in having a talk to the boys rather than having a kick," he said.
