Singer Kate Ceberano stole the show on Friday evening, performing to an adoring crowd at City Park.
Ceberano told the crowd, to cheers, that she had "five generations" of Tasmanians in her family.
A particular audience favourite tune was Bedroom Eyes, seeing the award-winning songstress returning to her ska-reggae roots.
Tasmanian talent was also on display, with Launceston barista and co-owner of Amelia Espresso Jack McNiff opening up the festival on the VJAM stage.
"I've done [Festivale] for five years now," the singer and guitarist said.
"I played a mixture of covers and my own songs, I just tried to play a few songs that people might not know to get them going."
Festivale fans also enjoyed displays from roving performers, and circus acts under The Tiny Top.
Audiences will be eagerly awaiting Saturday's headline performance from singer Wendy Matthews.
Saturday's line-up can be found at festivale.com.au.
