While Kudryavtseva entered the match still feeling the heat from an epic three-setter just 24 hours earlier, Xinyun was fresh from a string of straight-sets wins and looked to run the Russian around the court at every opportunity.
Xinyun controlled the match from the first game, forming a brick wall on the baseline, while errors compounded from the other side of the net.
Completing the straight sets victory in just over an hour, the 25-year-old said a solid week of preparation in Launceston had been crucial to her title-winning form.
‘‘It feels very exciting. I feel great. It’s a good week for me,’’ she said.
‘‘I came from the Australian Open and I felt really confident after that game and I trained here before for four or five days.
‘‘I felt more confidence today and I played more solid and I played more aggressive tennis, so I feel great.’’
Tasmania has been a happy hunting ground for Xinyun, who has now won three Apple Isle tournaments in the space of a year, following doubles wins at Hobart earlier this year and Launceston in 2015.
‘‘I like the temperature, I like the balls, I like the courts, I like everything.
‘‘It’s very important for me this week. Last year, I played good in doubles but I’m really concentrating from last year to prepare more for singles and now I’ve done a really good job and won the tournament, so it’s great for me.’’
