Kelly Heathcote will finish up the end of the state school year and her career as an educator, on Thursday.
Originally from the North-West Coast, Ms Heathcote has taught all around the state. She said she had loved every minute of teaching, from her first job at Luina annex of the Savage River District High School right through to her 12 years at Norwood.
Increased student wellbeing was the thing Ms Heathcote was most proud of, she said.
‘‘It’s the inclusive culture we have at Norwood and the very strong sense of team where parents and students and staff all work together, really living our values,’’ Ms Heathcote said.
Ms Heathcote said she would take a holiday over the summer, and looked forward to what retirement had in store for her.
She said she would look back on working with children as a great privilege.
‘‘The constant challenges, opportunities for growth and learning, multiple sources of celebration – it’s a dynamic, energetic, wonderful place to spend your time.’’
