Both have children about the same age and husbands who have been involved in fire fighting.
Both came from overseas - Mrs Snooks from New Zealand and Mrs Barber from South Africa.
And considering both share a love for handmade goods, it seems only natural that over the course of the next year the pair will tour their pop-up shop And Co. across all corners of the state.
And Co.'s debut stop at the Meadow Mews shopping centre will showcase the works of more than 12 Tasmanian makers over a one week period, which will include a late-night market on Thursday.
The duo said operating the shop for one week at a time allowed for maximum time to be spent with family members while still following their passion.
"We're full-time mums so we can't do the normal market scene thing but there's so many quality Tasmanian people that don't have the capacity to be able to supply shops full-time so we thought 'hey, why not just run pop-up shops'," Mrs Snooks said.
"So we can basically give other makers an opportunity to sell their things as well as selling our own stuff and working around the family."
As well as selling clothes, jewellery and homewares, the pair also stock on-the-go wallets which fold out to operate as chalkboards or lego sets.
"For people that travel heaps they can just set the kids up and they can build whatever they want and then just pack it away when they've finished."
