Perth Primary School has an enrolment of 270 children with enrolment numbers increasing by about 10 students per year and has now reached its capacity for classrooms and kindergarten facilities.
The council's child care service is full to capacity every day and is only able to cater for 20 children due to licensing and regulation requirements.
To increase the numbers, the service would have to find a larger space to use or find another room to use at the same time as the current service and split children up according to their ages.
Both the school and the community centre facilities are located close to the Perth Sports Ground, which is already in the process of having a master plan prepared to identify opportunities for its future.
Not only would the integrated master plan determine what facilities are required in the growing Perth community but it would determine what is needed for the long and short-term future of the town and the surrounding district.
The Northern Midlands Council have agreed to collaborate with Perth Primary School to prepare an integrated master plan.
The plan would guide the future development of the primary school, the community centre, the sports centre, the sports ground, the council's child care centre, the adjacent tennis courts and the surrounding road infrastructure.
Council members noted the importance of consulting with the state government on the issues as Perth Primary School is a government facility.
They also noted the importance of speaking with the Perth community, the Community Centre Committee and the Local District Committee.
Council said that this was the perfect time to develop an overall master plan for the community centre and the school as they will soon engage in discussions on the development of the outcome of the Perth Link Road around Perth.
A brief is being prepared on the project's financial implications.
