The emotional victim impact statement of Renu Singh, whose husband Lokendra Singh was found guilty of her attempted murder, was read to the Supreme Court on Friday.

A Launceston jury unanimously found Singh, 30, guilty of the crime on Thursday.

Singh attacked his wife in bed, cutting her neck three times with a serrated kitchen knife - centimetres away from major blood vessels -  strangling and suffocating her in their Newnham home on the night of February 11, 2014.

Crown prosecutor Jackie Hartnett read Dr Singh's statement to the court and it was clear she and her family, who had welcomed her husband as their own son, suffered the ultimate betrayal.

"He promised to love and protect me for life at the time of our marriage," the statement read.

"What happened was ... terrifying ... I faced death.

"I feel shattered and betrayed. My identity has changed ... I have insomnia, fear and terrifying nightmares."

The statement further said Dr Singh constantly "checked and rechecked" her doors were locked in order to feel safe.

She said it was now difficult to trust people except for those closest to her and she thanked her family and friends for their generous support.

Dr Singh further stated she wore a scarf for eight to nine months to conceal the scars on her neck, even at work, because talking about them made her cry.

She said she was also grateful for "the quick action of the Tasmania Police and the protection of the Australian legal system".

"I'm still scared of this man, that he will try to find and harm me again," Dr Singh stated.

Justice Robert Pearce adjourned sentencing to the Supreme Court in Hobart on November 25 at 2.15pm, to allow defence counsel Joanne Gallagher to obtain a private psychiatric report about Singh.
